Being one of Norway's most prominent and acknowledged violinmakers, Jacob von der Lippe has been building instruments for musicians at home and abroad since 1998.
Jacob's instruments are coming out of the tradition of the Italian masters. He trained at the "Istituto Professionale Internazionale per l'Artigianato Liutario e del Legno 'A. Stradivari' " in Cremona, Italy.
Jacob von der Lippe's instruments have a sound focusing upon warmth, projection and richness in overtones. On a regular basis he lectures on violin making and maintenance of instruments at several Norwegian schools of music and at music festivals. He is also associated with the Dextra Musica Foundation, where Jacob is looking after the collection of instruments.
Latest news:
In this very moment I'm making a viola, with body length 41 cm (16,1 inches). I've designed the pattern myself, and it's basically a bigger version of a viola which I made for Ellen Nisbeth at the Norwegian Academy of Music, right before Christmas. If you want to follow the making of this viola, click the Facebook icon on the left, or visit my workshop in Oslo.
