Cello for rent
Cello built by Jacob von der Lippe, Cremona 1997 / Oslo 2012. The cello pictured on this page is available for rent. I built it last school year in Cremona (1997). It is built on a model of “Sleeping Beauty” (Domenico Montagnana) which gives a rich and rich sound.
The rental price includes a sturdy BAM cello case, a cello bow, insurance, and normal maintenance.
Rental prices:
1 month: 4,500, – incl. VAT
1 week: 2,000,- incl. VAT
24 hours: 560,- incl. VAT

Ryuichi Sakamoto played this cello during the Ultima Festival in 2017. Sakamoto (who passed away in 2023) was a prominent musician and composer for many years. He composed the film score for “The Last Emperor”, for which he won an Oscar in 1987.

Bonfire Madigan Shive played self-composed music during the premiere of the play “Zita Hotel” during Global Oslo Music in 2017.

James Halsey studied cello with Eileen Croxford at the Royal College of Music. Today he is a cellist in the Bingham String Quartet and Tagore String Trio. He was also a cellist in the Dartington Piano Trio. He is professor of cello at the North East Scotland Music School and the Royal College of Music Junior Department and is director of the Aboyne Cello Festival.
