Baroque violin ・ Oslo, 2011

“lipinski” Stradivari

In 2011 I was asked by the excellent baroque violinist Sigurd Imsen to make a baroque violin for him. The baroque violin differs from a modern violin in many ways. Important details such as neck, fingerboard, bass bar, strings, bridge and setup make this something really unique.

The goal was to make a violin that was as close as possible to Tartini’s own violin. I got access to pictures and measurements of the original violin, and together with Sigurd we found out what would suit his sound ideal.

This has been an incredibly exciting journey for both of us. You can hear the violin on his record Tartini Secondo Natura.

La oss snakke.
