Jacob von der Lippe has, at my request, made a copy of the instrument that I have owned since 1970; a violin made by the Italian violin maker Joseph Guarneri del Gesú in 1742 in Cremona.

Arve Tellefsen, Soloist

Violin built for Arve Tellefsen in 2019:

“Jacob von der Lippe has, at my request, made a copy of the instrument I have owned since 1970; a violin made by the Italian violin maker Joseph Guarneri del Gesú in 1742 in Cremona. Guarneri del Gesú is one of the very best of all time. violin makers, yes there are many who believe that he surpasses all. Jacob von der Lippe has managed to make a copy of very good quality. There is naturally a fresher and more modern sound in the copy, partly because the tree but he has succeeded in creating a breeding ground for a sound rich in overtones in both weak and strong shades. And although the sound will always be the most important for the performer, Jacob von der Lippe has also created a beautiful violin that is strikingly similar to the original. “

Violin built for Arve Tellefsen in 2002:

“Thank you for the copy you made of my Guiseppe Guarneri del Gesu 1742 (ex Lord Emhurst of Hackney). Your copy is truly a fabulous piece of work! Your violin has a glow and shine in the tone that I really appreciate, and the tone is round and full at the same time. A combination that I would think is difficult to achieve. The instrument sets the tone very easily, but you can, if you want, dig deep into the strings and get more back all the time.

In appearance it is simply magnificent. The paint is beautiful, and it looks like my original to a dot. Thank you very much for a great job, and good luck with your instruments! “

I simply love this violin and would not trade it for anything. It has a very appealing sound: light, singing, harmonic, modular – it has both heat and edge, and is evenly good in all registers. In addition, it is incredibly easy to play – always in a good mood, and is not weather-sick.

Mari Lerseth, Freelance violinist

“What made the biggest impression when I tried Jacob’s violin for the first time was how precise the sound was, and how great it sounded. It did not take long before I decided in 2003 to invest in this instrument. With the years that have has gone, the development has gone in the direction I had hoped for, and the fullness of the bass register becomes more and more enjoyable with time, without the golden bright sound in the higher registers having diminished. von der Lippe’s instrument carries better and stronger than the Italian, -in a blind test with several musicians present.I appreciate the bright shiny sound, while the instrument has impressive resistance, so it takes a lot before the sound cracks, which gives the strong sound. The instrument invites to elegance with its precise sound, and paves the way for virtuoso pieces, as it withstands a little “knock” something I have a lot of fun with. “
