Cello made by Vik Vandamme – Roeselare, 2024

It is with great pleasure that I continue my collaboration with the talented violin maker Vik Vandamme. He worked in my workshop in 2019, and during the last six months he has made this cello for me, based on my proven personal cello model. The cello is made from air dried materials from my abundant stock; Italian Alpine spruce, a beautiful one piece willow back, European flamed maple ribs and a maple neck that is elegantly joined to the willow scroll.

The cello was made in Vik’s workshop in Belgium under close supervision by yours truly. He has also varnished the cello with my own oil varnish. The cello has been set up by Vik, and has a dark and glossy tone with fullness over the entire register. This is the instrument for those who want the taste of a von der Lippe cello, but at a very nice price. Five Norwegian cellists already enjoy cellos made by Vik every day.

Feel free to click through the pictures below to see how the cello is made. Contact jacob@vonderlippe to register your interest before this cello arrives at my workshop in December. Do you want to secure the first right to the cello? Then you can pay a fully refundable 10% deposit. Read more…
