My instruments are played daily by musicians in, among others, the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, the Broadcasting Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and students at most music institutions in Norway. In addition to many freelancers and educators throughout the country. A cello and a violin have been purchased by Dextra Musica, and are lent to music students at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Helgelandsfondet has bought a violin that is lent to local talents.

I can warmly recommend Jacob von der Lippe’s instruments! I bought my violin in 2002, immediately falling in love with its sweetness and warmth. I was especially intrigued by how easily played it was ” in the middle register”, it responds immediately and clearly, and it is very easy to articulate distinctly. I have used the violin in orchestras, in chamber musical contexts and as a soloist; in the orchestra the sound of the violin blends with the whole without any difficulty, and being used in a solo context, it easily fills a greater hall. The violin has prooved to be very uncomplicated in daily use, it has been a truthful friend in extreme heat and cold, in humid and dry surroundings, after flights… no matter what conditions, the violin has “been there” equally strong. The only initial difficulty worth while mentioning was that I had to experiment a little to find the right A-string for my violin, luckily today there is quite a variety to choose from. Also my first impression of the violin corresponds very well with what I think of it now after 10 years.

On later occasions I have compared the violin with the older Italian, where von der Lippe’s instrument carries better and stronger than the Italian, -in a blind test with several musicians present.

It’s been very fun getting to know my new violin. I find it very easy to play, and already the first time I got to play it I felt that the sound had a depth and personality that continues to grow the more I play it. The instrument sets the tone very easily, but you can, if you want, dig deep into the strings and get more back all the time.

I have had the pleasure of playing a Jacob von der Lippe violin since I bought it in the summer of 2020. The short time I have played it so far, I have experienced it as an easy-to-play instrument with very good responsiveness, but which still withstands a lot of impact if I wish. The violin has a very clear definition in what you set the tone, and I noticed early on how clearly it projected chords and doublestops, which is especially welcome in polyphonic Bach movements.

The violin is incredibly rich in overtones and I remember that I only rehearsed Bach’s solo sonatas and scores the first time because I was so inspired by the open sound.
